A Registered Non-Profit

A federation, not a marketplace

Acomada exists to connect Western European homes directly with the self-help groups, NGOs and farmer producer organisations who make some of Asia and Africa's finest handmade textiles, pottery, jewellery and woodwork — sold fairly, made to last.

Our Origin

Why we started

Across Asia and Africa, generations-old craft techniques are kept alive by women's collectives who rarely reach buyers beyond their own region. Acomada was founded to close that distance — federating verified producer groups and bringing their work to households across Western Europe, at a fair price set by the makers themselves.

We are not a retailer sourcing from suppliers. We are a non-profit federation: the groups we work with are members, not vendors, and the federation exists to serve them.

Our Model

How the federation works

01

We partner directly

We work only with registered SHGs, NGOs and FPOs — no middlemen between the maker and the federation.

02

Fair price is set first

Artisan groups set their own price floor before a single item is listed for sale.

03

Quality is verified

Every piece is checked against our craft standards before it reaches the collection.

04

You receive it, they're paid

83% of what you pay goes directly back to the producer group, tracked and published annually.

"Acomada didn't just give us a market. It gave forty women in our village a reason to keep the craft of our grandmothers alive."
— Fatima El Amrani, Tissage Atlas Femmes, Morocco
Governance

Who we are

Acomada is registered as a non-profit federation. Our trustees include representatives nominated by member collectives, independent trustees with backgrounds in fair trade and craft development, and one seat reserved for a Western European retail partner. Annual accounts and governance filings are available on request.
